work https://taosbertrand.com/ABOUT ABOUT &nbsp; Taos Bertrand is a contemporary dancer, performer, and choreographer. Influenced by cultural anthropology, queer historiography and philosophy, &nbsp;Her choreographic work is motivated by the contemporary survivance of the figure of the nymph that she explores through compositional and choreographic structures. Graduated in modern litterature and philosophy, her choreographic language is impulsed by an archivial drive and explores writing and choreographic materials linked to issues of gender, memory of the ghosts and feminine archetypes. In her work, the body tends to appear as a writing machine generator of signs trying to escape from their tyranny. She creates pieces such as Orages (2015), which draws on her experience as a person born under X; Rafales (2017), an undulating piece that won the Beaumarchais-SACD Foundation writing grant and in delegate production with TAP-Théâtre Auditorium de Poitiers ; and Inside Your Bones (2019), with the instrumental ensemble Ars Nova. Upon her return from Japan,&nbsp; she created a solo piece, Vestiges (2021), archivial work on ports-modern dance legacy and Noh theater, as well as La Fin des Forêts (2022), a trio based on another mythology of cruising. She calls this diptych “atlas of melancholic gestures” in echo of the Atas Mnémosyne by historian Aby Warburg on the survival of the figure of nymph as a vessel of gestures and images of pathos, latent and unconscious memories, in artistic forms. In 2022, she created “promettre,” a duo co-written with and at the invitation of Erwan Ha Kyoon Larcher at the Vive le sujet festival in Avignon. That same year, she created Tanit for Nuit Blanche Paris at the invitation of the Malakoff art center. From 2023 till 2025, she created «brutal syntax», a piece commissioned by the Meltdown festival curated by Rahim Redcar at SouthbankCentre (London) and «Nymph», in which she investigates the eponymous mythological figure and explores the materiality of the transfeminine experience on stage.. FR Taous Bertrand est danseuse et chorégraphe contemporaine. Irrigué par l’anthropologie culturelle, l’historiographie et la philosophie, son travail chorégraphique s'intéresse à la survivance contemporaine de la figure de la nymphe, de la ligne serpentine qu’elle trace, des gestes ondulatoires et des images du pathos qu’elle convoque de manière latente dans les formes chorégraphiques. Diplômée en littérature moderne et en philosophie, son langage chorégraphique est animé par une pulsion d’archive et explore une écriture et des matériaux gestuels reliés aux questions de genre, à la mémoire des fantômes et aux archétypes féminins. Rafales est une scène de rencontre amoureuse entre le fluide dynamique du vent, un paysage matériel et un couple. Rafales explore l’espace de l’entre-deux, tendu entre le premier souffle qui unit et le dernier souffle qui sépare. Cette scène archéologique pourrait se dérouler à l’intérieur du ventre maternel et sur le sable d’une arène antique. Le duo, créature hermaphrodite et couple polymorphe, s’élance à la quête d’une pulsation commune avec comme principaux outils une danse du ventre et la scansion respiratoire.
